# Addrbook

**Mainnet** · Chain ID `celestia`

An address book helps a consensus node discover peers. It does not contain blockchain state and cannot synchronize a node by itself.

Published URL: <https://server-2.block-pro.net/mainnet/celestia/addrbook.json>

The existing service page describes hourly updates; freshness has not been independently confirmed. An older snapshot command also uses files.block-pro.net/mainnet/celestia/addrbook.json. Confirm the canonical host before publication.

## Replace an address book

Download to a temporary file, leaving the current address book untouched.

```bash
curl -fL --retry 3 -o "$HOME/addrbook.download.json" https://server-2.block-pro.net/mainnet/celestia/addrbook.json
```

Check that the downloaded file has an address list. This does not prove reachability or network membership.

```bash
jq -e '.addrs | type == "array"' "$HOME/addrbook.download.json"
```

Stop the node before changing its address book.

```bash
sudo systemctl stop celestia-appd
```

Back up the existing file. Skip only if this is a new node with no addrbook yet.

```bash
cp -p "$HOME/.celestia-app/config/addrbook.json" "$HOME/.celestia-app/config/addrbook.json.backup"
```

Install the downloaded file as the node user.

```bash
install -m 600 "$HOME/addrbook.download.json" "$HOME/.celestia-app/config/addrbook.json"
```

Start the node and check peer connections in the logs.

```bash
sudo systemctl start celestia-appd
```
