# Lava

Lava Mainnet: node guides, services and operations.

Run the Lava consensus node and, optionally, register a validator. RPC-provider operations use a different workflow.

## Requirements

Allow inbound P2P on TCP `26656`. Keep RPC `26657`, REST `1317` and gRPC `9090` private unless you are deliberately operating a protected public service. Use a separate server for each network.

## Versions

Reference release: [`v6.2.5`](https://github.com/lavanet/lava/releases/tag/v6.2.5). GitHub also lists newer prereleases; they are not a mainnet upgrade instruction. Lava’s installation tutorial still uses v5.2.0, so confirm the active chain version and any scheduled upgrade before choosing a binary.

Read the version reported by the network before installation or upgrade; this response is live and is not cached in this guide.

If the endpoint is unavailable, confirm the active release with the project’s official validator announcements. Do not guess from the highest GitHub tag.
