# Snapshots

Restore a Pathfinder database snapshot for Sepolia Testnet.

**Sepolia Testnet · Software Mansion snapshots**

Open the [official snapshot list](https://rpc.pathfinder.swmansion.com/snapshots/latest). Select **testnet-sepolia**, verify the minimum Pathfinder version and note the SHA-256 checksum. These snapshots are supplied by Software Mansion.

### Install extraction tools

Install Zstandard and the download client.

```bash
sudo apt install -y wget zstd
```

### Open the project

Use the same directory as the node guide.

```bash
cd "$HOME/pathfinder-sepolia"
```

### Download

Download the snapshot for this network.

```bash
wget --continue https://rpc.pathfinder.swmansion.com/snapshots/latest/testnet-sepolia.sqlite.zst -O snapshot.sqlite.zst
```

### Check the checksum

Compare the output with the value on the official list. Stop on a mismatch.

```bash
sha256sum snapshot.sqlite.zst
```

### Stop the node

Skip this command only if the container has never been created.

```bash
sudo docker compose stop pathfinder
```

### Keep the old database directory

Moving the whole directory also preserves any SQLite WAL files. Use a fresh backup path.

```bash
mv data "data.before-snapshot-$(date +%Y%m%d-%H%M%S)"
```

### Create a clean data directory

Prepare the mounted directory.

```bash
mkdir data
```

### Extract

Write the database using the filename expected for this network.

```bash
zstd -T0 -d snapshot.sqlite.zst -o data/testnet-sepolia.sqlite
```

Match the snapshot’s state-trie mode in `compose.yaml`. If its mode differs from `--storage.state-tries=100`, use the mode supplied by the snapshot or choose a matching snapshot; changing archive/pruned mode requires a new database.

### Start

Start Pathfinder against the restored file.

```bash
sudo docker compose up -d pathfinder
```

### Verify recovery

The node should catch up from the snapshot height.

```bash
curl -fsS http://127.0.0.1:9546/rpc/v0_10 -H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
  --data '{"jsonrpc":"2.0","method":"starknet_syncing","params":[],"id":1}' | jq
```
