# Monad

Monad Mainnet node installation, upgrades and operations.

Run a Monad full node, then add validator registration if you plan to participate in consensus.

## Requirements

| Server              | Bare metal; cloud VMs are not officially supported        |
| CPU                 | 16 cores, 4.5 GHz+ base clock; disable SMT/HyperThreading |
| RAM                 | 32 GB+                                                    |
| TrieDB disk         | Dedicated 2 TB PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe or better                 |
| OS / consensus disk | Separate 500 GB PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe or better                |
| Bandwidth           | 100 Mbit/s full node; 300 Mbit/s validator                |
| OS                  | Ubuntu 24.04 or newer                                     |

[Hardware source](https://docs.monad.xyz/node-ops/hardware-requirements). The TrieDB disk is a raw database device; do not use the disk containing your operating system.

## Versions and services

The documented release is [`0.16.4`](https://docs.monad.xyz/node-ops/upgrade-instructions/v0.16.4). Release availability does not replace the network deployment announcement. Pin the approved version and keep the APT package on hold.

This guide uses official mainnet configuration and snapshot providers. No BlockPro Monad RPC or snapshot address has been supplied in the existing directory.
